ܨܒܐ ܐܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܬܕܥܘܢ ܐܚܝ ܕܐܒܗܝܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܬܚܝܬ ܥܢܢܐ ܗܘܘ ܘܟܠܗܘܢ ܒܝܡܐ ܥܒܪܘ
ebrw bym' wklhwn hww enn' thkhyth klhwn d'bhyn 'khy dthdewn dyn 'n' tsb'
Now I would not have you ignorant, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;

ܘܟܠܗܘܢ ܒܝܕ ܡܘܫܐ ܥܡܕܘ ܒܥܢܢܐ ܘܒܝܡܐ
wbym' benn' emdw mwsh' byd wklhwn
and were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

ܘܟܠܗܘܢ ܚܕܐ ܡܐܟܘܠܬܐ ܕܪܘܚܐ ܐܟܠܘ
'klw drwkh' m'kwlth' khd' wklhwn
and all ate the same spiritual food;

ܘܟܠܗܘܢ ܚܕ ܡܫܬܝܐ ܕܪܘܚܐ ܐܫܬܝܘ ܫܬܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܓܝܪ ܡܢ ܟܐܦܐ ܕܪܘܚܐ ܕܐܬܝܐ ܗܘܬ ܥܡܗܘܢ ܟܐܦܐ ܕܝܢ ܗܝ ܗܘ ܗܘܐ ܡܫܝܚܐ
mshykh' hw' hw hy dyn k'p' emhwn hwth d'thy' drwkh' k'p' mn gyr hww shthyn 'shthyw drwkh' mshthy' khd wklhwn
and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of a spiritual rock that followed them, and the rock was Christ.

ܐܠܐ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܒܣܘܓܐܗܘܢ ܐܨܛܒܝ ܐܠܗܐ ܢܦܠܘ ܓܝܪ ܒܡܕܒܪܐ
bmdbr' gyr nplw 'lh' 'tsTby bswg'hwn hw' l' 'l'
However with most of them, God was not well pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

ܗܠܝܢ ܕܝܢ ܛܘܦܣܐ ܠܢ ܗܘ ܗܘܘ ܕܠܐ ܗܘܝܢ ܪܓܝܢ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܗܢܘܢ ܪܓܘ
rgw dhnwn 'ykn' byshth' rgyn hwyn dl' hww hw ln Twps' dyn hlyn
Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

ܘܐܦܠܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܦܠܚܝ ܦܬܟܪܐ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܐܦ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܦܠܚܘ ܐܝܟ ܕܟܬܝܒ ܕܝܬܒ ܥܡܐ ܠܡܐܟܠ ܘܠܡܫܬܐ ܘܩܡܘ ܠܡܫܬܥܝܘ
lmshtheyw wqmw wlmshth' lm'kl em' dythb dkthyb 'yk plkhw mnhwn d'p 'ykn' pthkr' plkhy nhw' w'pl'
Don’t be idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.”

ܘܐܦܠܐ ܢܙܢܐ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܡܢܗܘܢ ܙܢܝܘ ܘܢܦܠܘ ܒܚܕ ܝܘܡܐ ܥܣܪܝܢ ܘܬܠܬܐ ܐܠܦܝܢ
'lpyn wthlth' esryn ywm' bkhd wnplw znyw dmnhwn 'ykn' nzn' w'pl'
Let us not commit sexual immorality, as some of them committed, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell.

ܘܠܐ ܢܢܣܐ ܠܡܫܝܚܐ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܡܢܗܘܢ ܢܣܝܘ ܘܐܘܒܕܘ ܐܢܘܢ ܚܘܘܬܐ
khwwth' 'nwn w'wbdw nsyw dmnhwn 'ykn' lmshykh' nns' wl'
Let us not test Christ, as some of them tested, and perished by the serpents.

ܘܐܦܠܐ ܬܪܛܢܘܢ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܡܢܗܘܢ ܪܛܢܘ ܘܐܒܕܘ ܒܐܝܕܝ ܡܚܒܠܢܐ
mkhbln' b'ydy w'bdw rTnw dmnhwn 'ykn' thrTnwn w'pl'
Don’t grumble, as some of them also grumbled, and perished by the destroyer.

ܗܠܝܢ ܕܝܢ ܟܠܗܝܢ ܕܓܕܫ ܠܗܘܢ ܠܛܘܦܣܢ ܗܘܝ ܘܐܬܟܬܒ ܡܛܠ ܡܪܕܘܬܐ ܕܝܠܢ ܕܚܪܬܗܘܢ ܕܥܠܡܐ ܥܠܝܢ ܡܛܝܬ
mTyth elyn delm' dkhrthhwn dyln mrdwth' mTl w'thkthb hwy lTwpsn lhwn dgdsh klhyn dyn hlyn
Now all these things happened to them by way of example, and they were written for our admonition, on whom the ends of the ages have come.

ܡܟܝܠ ܡܢ ܕܣܒܪ ܕܩܡ ܢܙܕܗܪ ܕܠܐ ܢܦܠ
npl dl' nzdhr dqm dsbr mn mkyl
Therefore let him who thinks he stands be careful that he doesn’t fall.

ܢܣܝܘܢܐ ܠܐ ܡܛܝܟܘܢ ܐܠܐ ܕܒܢܝܢܫܐ ܡܗܝܡܢ ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܠܐ ܢܪܦܝܟܘܢ ܕܬܬܢܣܘܢ ܝܬܝܪ ܡܢ ܡܕܡ ܕܡܨܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܐܠܐ ܢܥܒܕ ܠܢܣܝܘܢܟܘܢ ܡܦܩܢܐ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܬܫܟܚܘܢ ܠܡܣܝܒܪܘ
lmsybrw dthshkkhwn 'ykn' mpqn' lnsywnkwn nebd 'l' 'nthwn dmtsyn mdm mn ythyr dththnswn nrpykwn dl' 'lh' dyn hw mhymn dbnynsh' 'l' mTykwn l' nsywn'
No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܚܒܝܒܝ ܥܪܘܩܘ ܡܢ ܦܘܠܚܢܐ ܕܦܬܟܪܐ
dpthkr' pwlkhn' mn erwqw khbyby hn' mTl
Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.

ܐܝܟ ܕܠܚܟܝܡܐ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܕܘܢܘ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܕܡ ܕܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ
'n' d'mr mdm 'nthwn dwnw 'n' 'mr dlkhkym' 'yk
I speak as to wise men. Judge what I say.

ܟܣܐ ܗܘ ܕܬܘܕܝܬܐ ܕܡܒܪܟܝܢܢ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܫܘܬܦܘܬܐ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܕܕܡܗ ܕܡܫܝܚܐ ܘܠܚܡܐ ܗܘ ܕܩܨܝܢܢ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܫܘܬܦܘܬܐ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܕܦܓܪܗ ܕܡܫܝܚܐ
dmshykh' dpgrh 'ythwhy shwthpwth' hw' l' dqtsynn hw wlkhm' dmshykh' ddmh 'ythwhy shwthpwth' hw' l' dmbrkynn dthwdyth' hw ks'
The cup of blessing which we bless, isn’t it a sharing of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, isn’t it a sharing of the body of Christ?

ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܚܕ ܗܘ ܠܚܡܐ ܗܘ ܗܟܢܐ ܟܠܢ ܚܕ ܚܢܢ ܦܓܪ ܟܠܢ ܓܝܪ ܡܢ ܗܘ ܗܘ ܚܕ ܠܚܡܐ ܢܣܒܝܢܢ
nsbynn lkhm' khd hw hw mn gyr kln pgr khnn khd kln hkn' hw lkhm' hw dkhd 'ykn'
Because there is one loaf of bread, we, who are many, are one body; for we all partake of the one loaf of bread.

ܚܙܘ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܕܒܒܣܪ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܐܟܠܝܢ ܕܒܚܐ ܗܘܝܢ ܫܘܬܦܐ ܠܡܕܒܚܐ
lmdbkh' shwthp' hwyn dbkh' d'klyn 'ylyn hw' l' dbbsr l'ysryl khzw
Consider Israel according to the flesh. Don’t those who eat the sacrifices participate in the altar?

ܡܢܐ ܗܟܝܠ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܕܦܬܟܪܐ ܡܕܡ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܐܘ ܕܒܚܐ ܕܦܬܟܪܐ ܡܕܡ ܗܘ ܠܐ
l' hw mdm dpthkr' dbkh' 'w 'ythwhy mdm dpthkr' 'n' 'mr hkyl mn'
What am I saying then? That a thing sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?

ܐܠܐ ܗܘ ܡܕܡ ܕܕܒܚܝܢ ܚܢܦܐ ܠܫܐܕܐ ܗܘ ܕܒܚܝܢ ܘܠܐ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܠܐ ܕܝܢ ܨܒܐ ܐܢܐ ܕܬܗܘܘܢ ܫܘܬܦܐ ܠܫܐܕܐ
lsh'd' shwthp' dthhwwn 'n' tsb' dyn l' l'lh' wl' dbkhyn hw lsh'd' khnp' ddbkhyn mdm hw 'l'
But I say that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God, and I don’t desire that you would have fellowship with demons.

ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܬܫܬܘܢ ܟܣܐ ܕܡܪܢ ܘܟܣܐ ܕܫܐܕܐ ܘܠܐ ܡܫܟܚܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܬܫܬܘܬܦܘܢ ܒܦܬܘܪܐ ܕܡܪܢ ܘܒܦܬܘܪܐ ܕܫܐܕܐ
dsh'd' wbpthwr' dmrn bpthwr' dthshthwthpwn 'nthwn mshkkhyn wl' dsh'd' wks' dmrn ks' dthshthwn 'nthwn mshkkhyn l'
You can’t both drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You can’t both partake of the table of the Lord, and of the table of demons.

ܐܘ ܕܠܡܐ ܡܛܢܘ ܡܛܢܝܢܢ ܠܡܪܢ ܕܠܡܐ ܚܣܝܢܝܢܢ ܡܢܗ
mnh khsynynn dlm' lmrn mTnynn mTnw dlm' 'w
Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?

ܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܫܠܝܛ ܠܝ ܐܠܐ ܠܐ ܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܦܩܚ ܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܫܠܝܛ ܠܝ ܐܠܐ ܠܐ ܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܡܒܢܐ
mbn' mdm kl l' 'l' ly shlyT mdm kl pqkh mdm kl l' 'l' ly shlyT mdm kl
“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are profitable. “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things build up.

ܠܐ ܐܢܫ ܕܢܦܫܗ ܢܗܘܐ ܒܥܐ ܐܠܐ ܟܠܢܫ ܐܦ ܕܚܒܪܗ
dkhbrh 'p klnsh 'l' be' nhw' dnpshh 'nsh l'
Let no one seek his own, but each one his neighbor’s good.

ܟܠܡܕܡ ܕܡܙܕܒܢ ܒܡܩܠܘܢ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܐܟܠܝܢ ܕܠܐ ܥܘܩܒܐ ܡܛܠ ܬܐܪܬܐ
th'rth' mTl ewqb' dl' 'klyn hwythwn bmqlwn dmzdbn klmdm
Whatever is sold in the butcher shop, eat, asking no question for the sake of conscience,

ܕܡܪܝܐ ܗܝ ܓܝܪ ܐܪܥܐ ܒܡܠܐܗ
bml'h 're' gyr hy dmry'
for “the earth is the Lord’s, and its fullness.”

ܐܢ ܐܢܫ ܕܝܢ ܡܢ ܚܢܦܐ ܩܪܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܘܨܒܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܡܐܙܠ ܟܠܡܕܡ ܕܡܬܣܝܡ ܩܕܡܝܟܘܢ ܐܟܘܠܘ ܕܠܐ ܥܘܩܒܐ ܡܛܠ ܬܐܪܬܐ
th'rth' mTl ewqb' dl' 'kwlw qdmykwn dmthsym klmdm lm'zl 'nthwn wtsbyn lkwn qr' khnp' mn dyn 'nsh 'n
But if one of those who don’t believe invites you to a meal, and you are inclined to go, eat whatever is set before you, asking no questions for the sake of conscience.

ܐܢ ܐܢܫ ܕܝܢ ܢܐܡܪ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܗܢܐ ܕܕܒܝܚܐ ܗܘ ܠܐ ܬܐܟܠܘܢ ܡܛܠ ܗܘ ܕܐܡܪ ܠܟܘܢ ܘܡܛܠ ܬܐܪܬܐ
th'rth' wmTl lkwn d'mr hw mTl th'klwn l' hw ddbykh' dhn' lkwn n'mr dyn 'nsh 'n
But if anyone says to you, “This was offered to idols,” don’t eat it for the sake of the one who told you, and for the sake of conscience. For “the earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness.”

ܬܐܪܬܐ ܕܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܕܝܠܟܘܢ ܐܠܐ ܕܗܘ ܕܐܡܪ ܠܡܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܚܐܪܘܬܝ ܡܬܕܝܢܐ ܡܢ ܬܐܪܬܐ ܕܐܚܪܢܐ
d'khrn' th'rth' mn mthdyn' kh'rwthy gyr lmn' d'mr dhw 'l' dylkwn hw' l' 'n' 'mr dyn th'rth'
Conscience, I say, not your own, but the other’s conscience. For why is my liberty judged by another conscience?

ܐܢ ܐܢܐ ܒܛܝܒܘܬܐ ܡܬܚܫܚ ܐܢܐ ܡܢܐ ܡܬܓܕܦ ܐܢܐ ܥܠ ܡܕܡ ܕܐܢܐ ܡܘܕܐܢܐ
mwd'n' d'n' mdm el 'n' mthgdp mn' 'n' mthkhshkh bTybwth' 'n' 'n
If I partake with thankfulness, why am I denounced for something I give thanks for?

ܐܢ ܐܟܠܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܗܟܝܠ ܘܐܢ ܫܬܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܘܐܢ ܡܕܡ ܥܒܕܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܟܠܡܕܡ ܠܬܫܒܘܚܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܥܒܕܝܢ
ebdyn hwythwn d'lh' lthshbwkhth' klmdm 'nthwn ebdyn mdm w'n 'nthwn shthyn w'n hkyl 'nthwn 'klyn 'n
Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

ܕܠܐ ܬܘܩܠܐ ܗܘܘ ܠܝܗܘܕܝܐ ܘܠܐܪܡܝܐ ܘܠܥܕܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ
d'lh' wledthh wl'rmy' lyhwdy' hww thwql' dl'
Give no occasion for stumbling, either to Jews, or to Greeks, or to the assembly of God;

ܐܝܟ ܕܐܦ ܐܢܐ ܒܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܠܟܠܢܫ ܫܦܪ ܐܢܐ ܘܠܐ ܒܥܐ ܐܢܐ ܡܕܡ ܕܠܝ ܦܩܚ ܐܠܐ ܡܕܡ ܕܠܣܓܝܐܐ ܦܩܚ ܕܢܚܘܢ
dnkhwn pqkh dlsgy'' mdm 'l' pqkh dly mdm 'n' be' wl' 'n' shpr lklnsh mdm bkl 'n' d'p 'yk
even as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of the many, that they may be saved.
